St. Clair County Child Abuse and Neglect Council facilitates and hosts several special events and fundraisers throughout each year to highlight our mission while raising awareness about child abuse and neglect – we welcome your interest, enthusiastic participation, and support!

Our Annual Board Meeting is held in January each year. The members of our Board of Directors, as well as several community partners are in attendance to elect new executive committee officers and board members for the coming year to review the current year’s auditors report and previous year’s accomplishments.

National Child Abuse Prevention Month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect and promotes the social and emotional well-being of children and families.

St. Clair County Child Abuse and Neglect Council brings awareness to this month every year by displaying large blue ribbons on the Council’s office as well as tying them around lamp posts along Military Street throughout downtown Port Huron. The Council is always honored with a proclamation declaring April as Child Abuse Prevention Month by the Mayor of the City of Port Huron during the Port Huron April City Council Meeting.

The Council also encourages citizens and other community organizations to observe Child Abuse Prevention Month by initiating their own special events that support the belief that “It shouldn’t hurt to be a child.”

10th Annual Tee Off Fore Kids

Each year, St. Clair County Child Abuse and Neglect Council hosts the Tee Off Fore Kids Golf Outing to raise funds to help support our mission and raise awareness within our community

The outing will be hosted at the St. Clair Golf Club with a shotgun starts at 8:00am  1:00pm. Sponsorship opportunities are available.

Each April, St. Clair County Child Abuse and Neglect Council facilitates “Dinner for Kids’ Sake”. Serving as a kick-off for “Child Abuse Prevention Month” this event features an outstanding dinner, a diverse silent auction, and a powerful guest speaker.

The Council also utilizes this event to announce the “Child Advocate of the Year” and “Community Child Advocate of the Year” awards as well as to honor outstanding child advocates throughout St. Clair County. To make the event even more fun, the planning committee also chooses a theme that encourages, optional, attire for those in attendance.

2019’s event was held at the Blue Water Convention Center and brought together more than 425 guests, who along with event sponsors raised more than $26,000 to support the Council’s mission.

Each year, St. Clair County Child Abuse and Neglect Council partners with WSAQ-Country to host ‘Roof-Sit’ to raise awareness about child abuse and neglect and funds to support the Council’s work with children and families throughout St. Clair County.

This week-long event is hosted on the roof of MiMutual Mortgage in downtown Port Huron. WSAQ Radio’s morning personality, Matt Markham, camps out on the roof of Michigan Mutual while broadcasting live for five days, encouraging pledges. Council team members and community volunteers staff the headquarters and participate in special events throughout the week to raise awareness and encourage community participation.

Support for last year’s event was truly amazing raising more than $150,000 to support the Council’s mission.
